Who We Are

Office Hours Consulting began as an academic consulting practice serving individual families across Hawaii, Southern California, and Nevada. We delivered test prep, subject tutoring, and one-on-one college admissions guidance, privately and priced accordingly.

It worked, and that was the problem. The families who could afford list price got structure, planning, and a counselor who knew what separated a strong application from a weak one. The families who could not were left with school counselors carrying caseloads of hundreds of students. The barrier was never talent. It was price.

So we rebuilt the model around employers. When a company sponsors the program, the fixed cost is already covered, and every family at that company gets the same structured admissions program and tutoring at a rate well below list. Same people, same track record, a model that reaches everyone instead of a select few.

Our counselors are working high school and community college counselors across Southern California, at private schools, public schools, and community colleges, alongside our founder.

We are not former admissions officers, which is the credential most large firms lead with. We are the other side of that desk. Admissions officers read applications. School counselors build them, hundreds a year, with real students on real deadlines. Both matter. We are telling you which one we are.

Our tutors are current students at universities including the University of Washington, NYU, UC Berkeley, and UC San Diego. They are matched to your student by subject and by the specific thing that student is stuck on.

They recently sat in the same classes and took the same exams, which is a different kind of useful than a career instructor. A tutor two years out from AP Chemistry remembers which parts actually cost people points.
